Piano Roll recording of Scott Joplin playing "Maple Leaf Rag" in 1916. Midi conversion by PlayerRoll, and found at: http://www.pianola.co.nz. Re-recorded as audio by Major Bloodnok using Cubase. The original Piano Roll had been scanned and converted to a MIDI file by PlayerRoll, but the work remains in the public domain. This is one of a number of rare recordings by Joplin. It also demonstrates the deterioration of his health, specifically its impact on his piano playing. Original UniRecord, 1916. Maple Leaf Rag published 1899. Under the Pyramids, H.P. Lovecraft "It occurred to me that judging from the elaborateness of this worship, the concealed deity must be one of considerable importance. Was it Osiris or Isis, Horus or Anubis, or some vast unknown God of the Dead still more central and supreme?"

This anthem was in use during the rule of Emperor Haile Selassie I from 1930 to 1974. The music was composed in 1926 by Kevork Nalbandian, an Armenian living in Ethiopia. It was first performed when Haile Selassie I was crowned Emperor on November 2, 1930 and remained the national anthem until the Emporer was overthrown by socialist army officers in 1974 and the socialists fully gained control of the government in 1975.

The Gnostic Bible* (eds. Willis Barnstone and Marvin Meyer) From chapter "Early Wisdom Gospels", section "The Gospel of Thomas" "Yeshua said to them, When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter the kingdom." The Gospel of Thomas is a Coptic text with many different variations. This version (from the Gnostic Bible) is the most likely source for these two titles, based on what we know of BoH's interest in religion and how exactly the phrases match.

At the Mountains of Madness, H. P. Lovecraft "Another race - a land race of beings shaped like octopi and probably corresponding to fabulous pre-human spawn of Cthulhu - soon began filtering down from cosmic infinity and precipitated a monstrous war which for a time drove the Old Ones wholly back to the sea - a colossal blow in view of the increasing land settlements."
